Panagiotis Nikas is a lawyer and NGO director with extensive experience in managing and implementing projects aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. Since founding ZEUXIS in May 2018, he has been instrumental in leading the organization to provide shelter, protection services, psychosocial support, and non-formal education to unaccompanied minors, refugees, and migrant families. His leadership and vision have significantly impacted the lives of numerous individuals, ensuring their safety and providing them with essential resources and support.
Before his tenure at ZEUXIS, Mr. Nikas worked as an analyst for the European Stability Initiative, where he focused on studying and monitoring migration and asylum systems across European states. His work involved identifying best practices, drafting policy papers, and collaborating with national authorities to improve migration policies. His contributions were instrumental in shaping informed migration and asylum strategies within the EU, making a significant impact on policy development and implementation.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Nikas held the position of Director at the First Reception Service (FRS) within the Greek Ministry of Public Order and Citizen for five years since February 2012. He was responsible for establishing the organizational structure of the FRS, developing First Reception Centers and Mobile Reception Units, and creating the legal framework for reception and identification procedures. He also coordinated the National Action Plan for Asylum and Migration in Greece and collaborated with international organizations such as the European Commission, FRONTEX, EASO, and UNHCR.
